Letter From Mrs. LaPoint
LETTER FROM PRINCIPAL
Dear M.E. Norman Elementary Families,
On behalf of our staff, I would like to welcome each of you to M.E. Norman Elementary!
I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a strong community involvement and support. I am excited and eager to work with you as a partner in education to provide every opportunity for your child to succeed.
Parental involvement in our school community is high, and for that, parents are applauded. Research demonstrates that such involvement is the number one factor in determining student success in school. Parental involvement can take many forms. First and foremost, parental involvement means getting children to school every day and getting them there on time. Being present to monitor student homework, providing a quiet place for homework completion and being informed about progress and grades are all important to student success. Furthermore, collaboration among students, teachers, and parents is an essential key to the true success of a school community. Throughout the year we will keep families informed through our school website, week-at-a-glance homework guide, weekly test folders, JText (Quick Cub Comments), monthly newsletters (Cub Connection), and our Parent Facebook page. Parents are also encouraged to remain actively involved through activities like Parent-Teacher conferences, field trip chaperones, open houses, birthday luncheon, family days, and more!
This handbook is being provided to help you understand our practices and guidelines at M. E. Norman Elementary. This home-school connection will hopefully be helpful to you throughout the school year.
Please review this handbook to become familiar with the rules and guidelines of school and parish which are in the parish newspaper, A Guide for St. Mary Parish Schools. Please sign and return the school and parish letters signifying that you have read both the school handbook and the parish guide.
We are excited for the opportunity to work with you and your child to provide a safe and productive learning environment. I encourage you to call me to share ideas, concerns, or questions.
I wish your family, and especially your student, great success this school year.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ronica LaPoint, M.E. Norman Elementary Principal
