Change in Transportation

Change in Transportation

  1. If a child’s transportations changes, a written letter signed and dated by the parent must be turned into the teacher. Late requests (after 2:00 PM.) for a change in pick-up arrangements for a child may not be honored.  Children preparing for dismissal (using the restroom/getting in lines for walking home, vehicle pick-up, bus pick-up, etc.) may be difficult to locate quickly from the office and may confuse or endanger the child.  It is also often too late to identify the person signing the child out of school or to safely instruct the child as to the change.
  2. Telephone calls requesting changes in the way a student goes home may NOT be accepted since the identification of the caller cannot be verified.
  3. Early dismissal of students for reasons other than emergency cannot be permitted. (Examples: rain or not wanting to wait in line for pick-up are not legitimate reasons for early dismissal or pick-up in the office.)
  4. State laws intended to make schools safe for children require that anyone entering a school building must SIGN INAll parents arriving at school to pick up children must remain outside the school building.
  5. School employees will not remain at school alone with students or bring them home after dismissal.  All students must be picked up no later than 3:15. Any student left at school after this time will be placed in the supervised Aftercare program and will be charged a fee per incident. This fee must be paid when picking up the student.
